2015: Which hardware is good enough?

Like I said in a previous post, the Op needs to do some serious research first. It's obvious that he or she hasn't done much yet. He/she also keeps ignoring suggestions, and seems to want a parts list that he/she can just go out on amazon/newegg and buy.

I spent about a month researching my FX 6300 build, and about three months researching my 3700+ one. Not just hardware but prices.

Building a PC is easy enough, but you can't just go in half cocked and randomly assemble something. Well you can, but you likely won't be pleased.

I spent less than one day deciding that I would buy a Core i5-2500K. Tongue2 I didn't have much time because my old PC stopped working.

I mean, a GTX 960 is more than enough if you mainly want to use PCSX2 and Dolphin. You don't need a GTX 980 Ti.

It's fine if you are up to date on current hardware and things, but both times I built I wasn't.

I'm not now, either. my hardware knowledge extends to about the era of 3770k / FX6300 type chips. After that I mostly lost track, so if I were to build now I'd have to get up to date again.

Could one get the Pentium G3258 and get good performance. Before you dismiss it as a terrible emulation CPU, look at the single-threaded performance. It's the best dual-core CPU out there at only $50. What do you think?

Benchmark link: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu...40+3.20GHz

Of course, here's a link to buy: http://www.microcenter.com/product/43518..._Processor
if you find a better deal, post away.

The G3258 is awesome for emulation. It easily overclocks to over 4 GHz and is a Haswell generation CPU so you would see similar performance to the i7 4790k. The only scenario the i7 would fare better is in software GS mode since that can use the extra cores.

I'm going to the 4790K CPU now, so it;ll take a while for me to find out what kind of hardware I want to replace last time's conversation.

Kit 3: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Wmznxr

Ehm.

Link 1 doesnt work for me.

Link 2 has two different ram modules. Why?

Link1/2 have a 6TB HDD and a 0.5TB. Why? Please invest into an 256/512GB ssd with your amount of money.

Also HW Fan control? Why?

Maybe personal preference and possibly wrong but i would always prefer wlan pci cards over usb sticks.

Do 7.1 headsets really exist?
