21:9 Ratio in PCSX2?
#1
Yeah, I am not sure where to put this, so is putting it here~

Kinda a simple question, but am not certain how simple it would be to implement.

You know how PCSX2 has a 4x3 and 16x9 ratio lock, yes?
How hard would it be to add a 21x9 lock, well... 2.35x1 to be more precise?

I play PCSX2 in 21x9. Although I am on a 16x9 screen. I like the cinema style layout better.
I would like to be able to play game in full-screen, yes this would put black bars on top and bottom, but that's no issue for me.
And if your comment is just going to be trashing 21x9, or questioning why I play in 21x9 over 16x9 even though I am on a 16x9 screen. Don't bother commenting.
And to further save you the trouble.
I get these weird claustrophobic problems when I play in 16x9, don't ask why, I myself am vexed.
I have noticed it doesn't happen with 21x9. Why I play that way.

Question standing at how hard would it be to add a 21x9 option to the ratio selection/lock?

Technically, it would be very easy, but all the widescreen patches are for 16:9 games. So games would look very stretched in 21:9.

Most games yeah...
I personally have kh2fm and okami hacked into 21x9, through window-mode though
full screen stretches back to 16x9

Try this custom build:
.7z   pcsx2 - 21-9 aspect ratio.7z (Size: 2,12 MB / Downloads: 228)

It's based on the latest git build, so you might want to download that as well:

Very interested in 21:9 for when those displays become affordable.

Actually, it's 2.33:1 to be precise.

Maybe it would be better to have a custom aspect ratio option? Before some people come asking for "Why not 44:47, 83:∞?". Tongue

It's doable on your own for some games if you guess out what part of the widescreen patch affects the game. After extracting it from cheat_ws
though I don't think any PS2 games ever had ultra widescreen in mind. So sometimes weird stuff can happen like part of a world appear in front of the camera where it should be behind it. Also lots and lots and lots of culling.
