Well, $500 is a lot of money for just a slight clock increase. Who ever is in charge of marketing lost his/her mind. Seriously, this is the same deal as the i7 860 and 870. 870 is 100MHZ faster and it costs almost twice as much.
Yeah, it's really hard to give any kind of advice. I would just buy the 820QM, because it is cheaper and not that much slower, but that's just me though.

I agree that $500 is a bit much and as ChronicNL said, it already overclocks when it needs too which is why (if I decide to get this) I really don't want to overclock an overclocker. Kinda a risky move on a laptop (although, I'm sure if it ran a full 3.06ghz at a constant rate, it wouldn't overheat if well taken care of).

I feel that the new i7 mobile processors are better for a laptop then any 3.06gz dual core out there as the base frequency is pretty low and will save on battery life and possibly prevent some heat issues. Thats why I decided to go for this... when I get the money for it.

I'll go for the i7-820QM. The i7-720QM is $200 dollars cheaper but the turbo boost for it is significantly weaker.

Also, I've found two laptops at decent prices.

My customized Sagar and My customized allienware (dell)

I basically customized both with the same parts except allienware has the GTX 260M (or the gtx 240m) while sagar has the GTX 280M (only). To my surprise, Sagar is that much cheaper and has a better video card. I see no reason to get the dell (looks maybe). Are there any advantages for the gtx260m over the gtx280m?

Also, is there another laptop using these same specs (as seen) that I might not know about within this price range or cheaper?

EDIT: o right, and the dell has a 9-cell (85Watt) Lithium-Ion Battery compared to sagar's 6 cell.
