5850 or gtx 275 for pcsx2
#1
Hey guys, I just want to say first that im new to the forums, and thanks in advance for helping me Smile

Now i will be getting a new graphics card to replace my old 8400gs. I have an i7 860 and i game on 1920x1080. Now i really dont play pc games much, but i will do alot of pcsx2 and dolphin emulating. Im stuck on either getting a 5850 or save 50 bucks and get a gtx 275. Which should i get for mostly pcsx2 emulation?

And i dont want to get a lower card. Just either the 5850 or gtx 275
Sorry i meant to say that i WILL be gaming at 1920x1080p, im getting a new monitor as well

GTX 275 should be more than enough, but the 5850 would be more future proof. Your choice really Tongue

...or wait for the mid-range GT4xx series later this year. =b
Still, I think power consumption-wise (compared to NVIDIA's DX11 cards), ATI cards are better.
Then again, I still don't know the TDP of those GT4xx mid-range cards, so the jury's still out on that one.

There you go.

@OP
275 if you're running PCSX2 only.
5850 if you play PC games as well. (watch out for gray screen of death)

I was talking about GT460 and under; those two (GT470 & GT480) are the high-end line.
Simply put, the 57xx and under competitors.

Yes...apparently.
And get this, no one knows what causes that gray screen.
For some, RMA'ing fixes it, but new drivers don't.
For others, driver update fixes it, but RMA'ing don't (replacement card does the same thing).
And to make everything even more confusing, a few people claimed that updating their motherboard bios fixes it.

Be patient guys should consult Wikipedia page periodically for the real time specifications about GeForce 400 Series till the end of GTX 460.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_...400_Series

I imagine a mid-range card will suffice in PCSX2 Games.
