I've had a far smoother gaming experience in Soul Calibur III by enabling that setting. However, as refraction pointed out, you need a powerful graphics card. Keep in mind the PCSX2 requirements mention a 8600GT as minimum configuration in the graphics department, while you only have a 8500GT.

Asus Xonar D2 w/ Logitech Z-5500

Corsair XMS2 1GB DDR2 PC6400 x2
Western Digital 500GB 16MB cache x2

i read just now that gabest has an 8600gt and is also not enough to benefit from this setting so he basically said in his post you will need a better video card than his 8600gt so to those with 8800gt and beyond maybe able to get the benefits this setting could give

It's actually game/hardware dependant, I get a good boost on some games but on others I got the contrary. Best way to find out if it'll help you is try it yourself for whatever game is slow and see if it brings any boost or not.

It also seems to not like texture filtering being activated at the same time at least here, in scenes in wild arms 3 I got some boost if I disable texture filtering but with texture filtering either grey or checked it got slower than without 8bit textures.

Yeah I saw people saying they got speed up in Wild Arms 3 but I got slow down with an 8800GT. But I do like my texture filtering and high res.

It makes FFXII a 10% faster in my PC, but makes some glitches, and the menu is a lot slower (30fps).

this actually fixes some text glitches in FFXII but to me it dropped my fps a lit bit in the menu

currently FFXII only has one graphical problem remaining, which is the shadows in the cut-scenes

You could disable texture filtering so 8-bit textures would still speedup the game keep the fixes and not slow down the menus, but then again it wouldnt look as good Tongue

It's helped me to get better speeds in Tekken 5 and Soul Calibur 3,
near to 60 fps and in valkyrie profile 2 give about 6 fps plus,
I have a poor 8600gt, this feature is very usefull.

Just one question. Are those problems normal for this option because KH2 is literally full of them and on some place it's so bad that it's barely playable.
