9,7, Windows 7/GS Problem I think (Game lags)
#1
Hello, first of I'm a huge newb and I'm just glad I got the game running.

But for some reason the games fps drops alot at times, something for no reason and sometimes during high performance sections. Tried activating speedhacks etc. but I think Windows7 is blocking my tries to change the .ini etc.

I'm "Run as Administrator"'ing it. But Windows7 is a ***** and I think it's still blocking it... I just dont know how to stop it.
The game is running, its just that it slows down with sound/effects not chugging but rather feeling drawn out.

Any help advice would be nice!

EDIT: This is also when I try to change window size mode or GS mode (which I think is the problem.)

are you using the new pcsx2 beta? an option is to disable UAC or lower its securities, another is to make sure it's run in admin 100% of the time (which doesn't always work)

emulation settings is in configure I believe (I don't have the program handy, and can't use it where I am atm) plugin settings can be changed in the plugin selection menu as well.

You'll have to first solve your primary problem of saving settings etc.
Uninstall PCSX2 (keeping your BIOS files and memory cards), reinstall it on a folder like C: (or D: whatever you like)/Emulation/PCSX2 where you will have no permission problems. Now you will be able to change and save your settings, including speed hacks which could help you.
Also for GS plugin you should use GSdx which is quite faster than ZeroGS you use currently
Telling us which game it is will also help

Sorry for the slow reply, had no internet for 3 days.

First, thanks for the help and feedback!

I installed the game into my downloads folder in documents but evidently it's still requiring admin rights which is quite strange.
I'll try installing it into C: later and see if that helps, aswell as GSdx!

It's Persona 4, ages since I played it and I never did finish it so I thought now would be a good time inbetween exams and such.

EDIT: If I uninstall PCSx2 will it remove my saved games?

Maybe, just keep the 2 mcd001 and mcd002 files in the memcards folder and then copy them over the new install. Also make sure to backup your BIOS files. C:/ might be also problematic so just to be 1000% sure make a new folder named whatever you want in C:/ and install it there

Krehlmar, the problem is running any program from any protected folder, the Documents is one of them.
Keeping configuration files there is not an issue... just avoid running programs from "Any" Windows special protected folder.
That include the c:\Program Files, the Documents and the Desktop.

That's valid for other games too even the PC ones, avoid installing in those folders (sadly the program files is the default :/ ).

PS: Some games might never get issues running from there, others may not work from start, many will work for a time and become chaotic just ahead. It's a wild guess. The best is avoiding possibles issues from start, and that is easier and painless than trying to correct things afterward.
