P.S. I am not a noob.

You still use IDE's such as codeblocks or VS.

RE: A curious question.
a bad plan? what you mean? emulating the emulator on pcsx2? if so YEEEAAAHHH that's mega pointless. why'd you wanna do that? to run on windows? you already have a windows version. Wink

and what you might actually wanna use is this and this and try create some real graphics for windows.

sorry i can't anymore. *shakes head*

No I mean literally porting it to ps2, that's something fun, again xstyla you undermine me.

RE: A curious question.
You say you still use codeblocks and visual studio, but then how do you compile to an elf extension for the ps2 to play.

you need the ps2 sdk with the compiler that produces the mips r5900 machine code and the linker that makes it a elf binary. -_-

jsyk: i wrote my first lil ps2 program in r5900 assembly when there was no sdk available. maybe you should do the same, to know what it's about. the machine language and binary stuff.. you know?!? Wink

RE: A curious question.
I really wish we could simplify that. So do we have any tutorials online on how to program ps2. Though I really want to know how snes9x for ps2 was ported and how we have e.g. genesis on psp? In short, how is development done and what libraries are used?

RE: A curious question.
My question is that do they use custom compilers or official dev kits? And well I have a question, is college or university better? I want to do electrical engineering and computer science... Is that the preferred course? I wan't to bcum a soft. engineering(and code emus) and also know how hardware works and to build custom harddware. Please give solid advice. Lead me the right way, pcsx2 coders....

RE: A curious question.
They use custom compilers that are official dev kits. The official PS3SDK offers both a fork of the GCC (which has a ton of custom modifications) and the SN Systems toolchain (SN Systems is owned by Sony). The XBOX360 SDK most likely uses the VS toolchain that has been added to to compile for PPC.

Is there a difference between college and university? In the USA there isn't. Higher learning is good, but you most likely won't be coding emulators for a living without going the "extra mile" throughout college / jobs / etc. As per a degree, you probably want to double major in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, focusing more on applied lower level topics.
