If the sockets are the same (so you don't need a new mobo), sounds like it would be a good upgrade.

Yeah Athlon II is dated at this point. If your MOBO is Socket AM3+ I'd suggest getting one of the Vishera FX chips, but it's up to you. DQ8 is heavy on the GPU side, yeah.
