Another Problem with Ar Tonelico 2
#1
Hello!

I've been using PCSX2 for a while, playing a lot of gust and atlus games (namely ar tonelico, mana khemia and persona).

I formatted and changed HDs, and now I can't find the svn I used to play Ar Tonelico 2. I changed to the 0.9.8 rev (the one I used to play Persona 4) and while the main background images are fixed, there are some black lines [FIXED] and the world map is bugged (which is the biggest problem).

I don't know if the gustfix would work this, and I've tried revisions 1474 (seems to not work for me - doesn't load the game overall) and 1888 [and 0.9.8]. None worked so far. I've alredy played AT2 on the same computer (different HD), and it worked 100%, but I don't have the files to play again. Can't find rev 3777 and couldn't find an workable fix [can't compile on this PC]. Alredy google'd the max I could, but since megaupload has been shutdown, I can't find the files. [most file shares have taken the files down]

So, is there any way to fix the game for the 0.9.8? Or another svn that works [and isn't slow]?

Look there and see description of sprite hack, you don't have to use software mode with that.

@op
The latest svn has specific hack for this game (and general gust games), you'll need to enable gsdx hack first. Search the forum on how.

Tried. I can't go on software mode because i get more than 50% slow (drops to 30 fps... x_x)

The lines and some very minor bugs disappeared, but the world map bug is still there.

I tried enabling the fixes, both at the same time, one at a time, none worked (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/826...tings.png/).

Btw thanks for the help.

Now then it has been a good long years since I last played this game on PS2, but what seems to be the problem there? The awfully small screenshot (yet needlessly big in size) and non descriptive problem also didn't help.

The world map is quite bugged, and even on native there are times where half of it gets covered (the 3d part) and there also seem to be some z fighting. Still, I would consider it the least of the problems. You can also just switch to software mode on the world map, then back to HW afterwards with F9. I thought about looking into it, but seemed too complicated.

Also, try setting the SW mode extra threads setting to 2. I also have a dual core and that's the best setting for me. Greater or lower value than that, and I get worse performance in software mode.

The thing is, that screenshot show a perfectly fine world map, so I'm not sure what his problem is.

Let me explain for you. There seems to be some kind of "textures" missing for the world map, as seen on the second part. It is supposed to be some kind of "montain" there, however you see as a flying island [second part]. Some strange thing is that you can see some fog on the first part, but it only applies to some parts. So: the world map is not totally covered, half the screen is bugged without showing the textures and the other half is also bugged for not showing correctly the textures it should show.

Will try that. EDIT: Software mode seems to work. It's a pain in the ... to press F9 since I use a joystick to play, but I guess there is no other way. Thanks.

EDIT: For those who can't see the bug, here is the ['normal map'] good version of the bug:

While it seems mostly that these bugs are 'minor', late in the game there are some things you can't see on the world map. I too believed that there wasn't a single bug when I started playing.

Ah I see what you mean, the problem of the world map is usually much worse with gsdx hw mode (as KrossX said, half of the 3D screen missing). But I usually moves fast enough to notice it, so yeah, use f9 if it bother you so much. Tongue2

I did that too, but it started getting annoying when I reached the 2rd phase :/
