Another random crash
#1
I've been having this issue every now and then but it deters me from playing anything, especially if it's an RPG where you can't always access a save point. I've had crashes with jusst about any game, sometimes depending on how long I play. This time, it was Final Fantasy 12..here's my log.

Could someone help me out?

Is that log directly after a crash? Because I don't see anything crash related in it and the log gets overwritten on each run of PCSX2.

I used this log after the program crashed and exited out. I didn't open it until I posted. And now I've experienced another crash with Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3. However, it just hangs, not particularly crashes. I want to say it is because of a lot of things going on at once, being a fighting game and all..I looked at the log and it didn't say anything about errors.

Why is that happening?

Well, I don't know why, but we can try to figure it out.

Does Windows give you the "This application has stopped responding" dialog, or any similar dialogs when PCSX2 crashes? If so, can you expand the "More information..." area and post a screenshot?

Yeah that happens, but it's to late for me to expand anything lol, however that did not happen when Naruto crashed, not until I forced the program to quit myself. Hmm, I'm thinking of uninstalling this build and getting the latest stable version..but for some reason I doubt this will solve the issue :/

EDIT: I saw that async sound was selected and it said that it breaks some games, maybe this is the issue? I don't remember ever changing it though.

It only breaks a few games, Amplitude is the only one I know of. I know it works fine with FFXII for sure though.

Anyway, what version of Windows are you on? We might can get the error info another way, depending.

Windows 8. Meanwhile, I tried Naruto again and it hangs just like before, I've noticed that when I use Choji and enter his awakening mode and start spamming attacks, it'll hang, just like it before...so it just crashed..now I'll do what you said..

By the way, it doesn't give an "ex[and" option, it just exits out after trying to "fix" the problem. Also, the log doesn't seem to showcase an error either.

NUN3 doesn't seem to be in the compat list, so it's possible it doesn't work. But I doubt it, and you said other games were crashing, right?

Okay, this is the instruction to do this on Win7. I'm not sure if it will work for 8 or not, but it's worth a try.

Go to wherever the "Run" command is in 8. Type in "View reliability history" without quotes, and if it comes up, choose it. Go to the latest date there, and click on it in the graph. Find one of the PCSX2.exe crashes down below, right click on it, and choose "Technical Details." If that works, copy paste the details in here. Should look like this:

Code:

Which is a crash I had with Dolphin recently. Hopefully this works on Win8 so we can get some deets.

Okay, here's the one for what I believe to be for FF12 (has crashed on Digimon Data Squad, and Kingdom Hearts 2 FM+, basically every game I have played, but FF12 and Naruto are the recent ones), beloww it would be Naruto..but you said it wasn't compatible so I guess it is a moot point. (could possibly explain why it hangs instead of crashing)

No, I said NUN3 wasn't in the compatibility list, but that doesn't mean it's not compatible. It just means we haven't had a report. Since the other NUN games ARE in there and listed as playable, NUN3 likely is playable too.

Okay, here are some recommendations. Your first crash there is BEX "Buffer overflow exception." Two possibilities to fix this.

#1. If your system locale happens to be Arabic, delete PCSX2/langs/ar_sa
#2. Otherwise download Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2013 x86 version and run it. When it says you already have it installed, click repair.

Your second crash is an app hang. I don't know much about debugging that, but some people with "Hang Type: 134217728" found it to be related to an input device (keyboard/mouse/controller/etc)

If the two options above don't help, I would recommend trying the stable 1.2.1 PCSX2 to see if that helps.
