Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance frozen at Loading screen after New Game
#1
I bought a used copy of the Greatest Hits edition of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (USA). The game boots up fine, memory card is configurated. The Black Isle and snowblind FMVs play smoothly with no glitches, and there are no problems with the title menu. However, after I start a New Game for One Player and choose any class, the game hangs at the Loading (on fire) screen, dropping to 0.32 fps. PCSX2 eventually crashes if I leave it alone long enough (maybe 40 minutes). I don't have any save files to load. Strangely, I can play the Tutorial just fine, with only one minor graphical bug (a single green vertical line in the pop-up boxes).

I've found one other person with the same problem, in a YouTube comment, but it doesn't seem like they ever got past this part either. I'm relatively inexperienced with PCSX2, so apologies if I've left anything out.

I tried using the latest revision 49840bb by ssakash. Still freezing at the new game loading screen.

I’m wondering if this is a problem particular to the Greatest Hits edition… I’ll try the same settings with the original USA and PAL editions and see if that works.
