Best Laptop for PCSX2 OTB?
#1
I was really wanting to get into PCSX2 since I managed to miss the entire PS2 era of videogames, and i have a good $700 spending limit. Im not too tech savvy, so I wouldn't really know how to shop for this.

So I was wondering, what laptop would be the best to get for this particular EMU as far as out the box specs go?

depends on the games you have.
but laptops aren't recommended for pcsx2.
so I'd say : the fastest intel CPU you can find with the best dedicated GPU you can find too...
CPU : I7 2600K Oc'ed @ 4.2Ghz
Mobo : Intel P67 southbridge
GPU : NVIDIA Geforce GTX 750 Ti
RAM : 6 Go

Here's the best deal at $700 I see on Newegg right now...

Although Acer isn't too classy of a brand, the hardware is where it's at.

Intel Core i7-2670QM
nVidia Geforce GT 630M

Even comes with a $50 gift card right now. Smile

Is that one a good one for it? Cuz so far it's a tie for me between that and this (before Rezard's post):

I see. Hrrm... are there any others with similar specs, just more RAM and Hard Drive space, price notwithstanding?

Edit- RAM is apparently upgrade able to 8GB, so nvm on that count. just one more inquiry, are there any with a mic?

The one I posted has a web cam + mic.

It also has a single stick of 4GB, so an upgrade to 8GB iis just a stick away.
(rather than if it was two 2GB sticks, then you'd have to buy two 4GB sticks)

The GT 630M is better than the GT 540M.

The HDD is something most easily upgraded, like RAM.

That Acer isn't too bad for $700, but do note it's a 16 incher with only a 720p screen. Also with single channel 1066 RAM and a 5400rpm HDD it's going to feel slow as molasses despite the good CPU. So it'll need upgrading.

But as far as pcsx2 is concerned you should get 60fps in most games (w/hacks), and with that gpu 2x in most games, 3x in some, but only 1x in others.
