Always great when stuff sells out right after I link it.
Well-- I'm sure there's a bit more of a limited stock with refurbished, anyway.

It was like $850, BTW.

RE: Best Laptop for PCSX2 OTB?
So is there consensus that a laptop with intel core i7 2xxxQM and a compatible graphics card will run most games relatively well on pcsx2?

If my budge is ~$1500, what's the best laptop I can get for pcsx2 that also has high compatibility with games on steam (dota 2, bioshock, borderlands, portal 2, etc.) ?

I wouldn't pay ~$1500 for a laptop with the most standard mobile i7.
And I'd kinda think a GTX 560 wouldn't be too much to expect, either.

EDIT: Went and took a look. I certainly was right. Smile

If you don't mind a 15.6" screen,
then this one with a GTX 570 for a few bucks more would be sweet...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6834152307

But maybe the 15.6" screen just won't satisfy.
Well, just a few bucks more again...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6834152293

And those are not even $1500.
If you can spend at all over $1500,
here's one with a little bigger HDD...

If you a big budget like $1500 look at sites like xoticpc or malibal, not newegg. And just my two cents but MSI is overpriced glossy trash. You can get the specs they offer for hundreds less by going with Clevo/Sager. Asus is okay too if you don't mind their huge chassis

And yes a mobile i7 quad can handle almost everything with speedhacks. Don't buy one now though, wait for the 3xxxQM series. Unless they changed the specs from last time I checked you can get 2760QM performance from the entry level Ivy Bridge, which is going to save you couple hundred bucks

RE: Best Laptop for PCSX2 OTB?
thanks for the replies everyone.

btw, how would an intel i7 QM processors compare to the XM ones? 2670QM can be turbo boosted to around 3ghz, but the XM series is already at that level.

does it matter that these are all quad core? i think i read somewhere that pcsx2 doesn't utilize multi-core well...

the specs i really care about are: processor (speed/compatibility), graphics card (compatibility), screen (17.3")
don't care about: disk space
used for: pcsx2 and steam gaming, and audio projects on FL Studio

budget: max $1500, ideally $700~1000

RE: Best Laptop for PCSX2 OTB?
This time the 3720qm Ivy bridge CPU seems sweet for playing PCSX2 games, but how about the 35W 3612qm? The low TDP seems delicious but I wonder how will it perform on PCSX2...
