Bios extraction
#1
Hey guys. How y'all doin ?
So I've recently installed the pcsx2 and I realized it need bios from my ps2. Luckily I have my ps2 and haven't thrown it away ?. I've read the instruction to how to dump bios but the problem is my ps2 neither can't read any other discs except for ps2 formatted ones nor my flash memory. ( it's a FAT32 and I've formatted it before copying the dumper program) can any one help me with this please ? Thanks

Could you describe in detail the process you are following? Also what kind of PS2 do you have (fat or slim)?

I've got a slim ps2 and it's an scph-75004 series.
This is the procedure that's I've been following :
1) downloading the bios dumper v2
2) extracting the files
3) copying the dumpbios-mass.elf and 7za in a FAT32 formatted flash memory
4) plugging in the flash and waiting for a menu to appear

The system won't magically open the menu to load files from the flash drive you need to use an exploit in order to run the files off the flash drive. Since you have a slim PS2 makes it a bit more difficult.

There are several possible options though you'll need one of the following

Disc Swap
The disc swap trick (requires specific games one of the easiest to find is 007 agent under fire)

Cheat discs (any 1 of these will work)(must be a retail copy)
Action Replay
Game Shark
Code breaker
Swap Magic

Peripherals
PS2 HDD
PS3 PS2 Memory Card USB adapter.

There's a whole set of tutorials here http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/swap.php

Also be CERTAIN your flash drive is formatted to FAT32

So I need to get cheat discs ? And btw I've been wondering is it necessary to have a ps2 memory card on the Console or I can dump without needing a memory card ?

In order to run an exploit you'll need a PS2 memory card (PS1 memory card will not work). You install the exploit files to a memory card which will open up the system.

And cheat discs are one option each of those things I listed are a completely separate method of running an exploit.

I see thanks for your help. I'll let you know of the results Smile
Btw there's a method with swap magic could you send a tutorial link for it too ? Thanks
And where can I get cheat discs ?

Swap Magic: http://www.amazon.com/Swap-Magic-Coder-2...B001BZCECU Tutorial: http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/swapmagic.php

It seems gameshark doesn't work with slim PS2's

Action Replay: http://www.amazon.com/Datel-Max-Playstat...ion+replay Tutorial: http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/armax.php

Code Breaker: http://www.amazon.com/Code-Breaker-Plays...de+breaker Tutorial: http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmc...reaker.php

Please read through the entire tutorial, check your PS2 bios version and model number (some exploits only work on certain PS2's) against the requirements in the tutorials, and make sure those are the correct version of the cheat discs described in the tutorials (they seem to be but I can make mistakes) before purchasing.

There's also the memory card exploit.... Um.. Um... McFreeBoot? Yeah, that's the name.

I used my copy of 007 Agent under fire for the exploit. There are tons of guides on the web how to do this.

That would be Freemcboot and all of these are methods of installing it to your memory card.
