Ah fair enough

Just get one Dual Core CPU with a high default clock speed, or get a Quad Core if pcsx2 is going to support 3 threads in the near future.
DO NOT get a single core cpu, these days it is bad for anything.

Would a single core CPU with Hyperthreading be "ok"? Maybe if clocked high enough?

You could always get a Dual Core CPU with HT like some core i5 variants.
That way you save money, get a faster dual core CPU and a 4 thread capable one, thus making fair use of PCSX2 future implementations =D SAGER NP8690 | i7-620M 2.66Ghz | 6GB RAM | ATI 5870M 1GB GDDR5 | FullHD 1080p 15.6'' | 500GB HDD 7200RPM | WINDOWS 7

That's a great suggestion, though I'm going true quad-core because I think it will be far more future proof. I liken hyperthreading to virtual memory - useful in a pinch, but ultimately not reliable for dedicated tasks. |
