Buying a Laptop, help me choose!
#1
Ok... So I have PS2 and Wii emulation on my mind. Its been on my mind for years, and is a factor in my buying decision. Hoever, despite Prev-gen emulation being the driving force of my laptop ambitions, I actually plan to play games less than 1% of them time. The other 99% is just normal every day use. Anyways I've picked out 3 laptops and I need your help to pick a laptop you think might be best for me.

This Laptop is the weakest of the three but intrigues me the most. Its i7 is only a dual core and I don't know if the Graphics card is good. However it has a TOUCHSCREEN, something that could prove to be quite the asset on Windows 8. But if any of you think it isn't fit for Final Fantasy XII, Gran Turismo 4, God of War 2, Black, or whatever, then I'll just forget this machine since I don't want the performance of the hardware to hinder my experience.

This Laptop seems to be the most powerful of the three. The dimples on the keyboard are said to help keep the surface cool. I also really like the idea of Asus instant-on which resumes my session in 2 seconds. Plus its ASUS so it'll match my Nexus 7.

This is the thinnest one, and has a super-awesome-sweet cd slot, rather than a popout tray. It also has a 7200rpm harddrive. I almost like it more than the ASUS, except I'm unsure of the dedicated graphics is exactly what I need or now... I mean I know jack-diddly about graphics card. I don't even know what picture shaders or opengl are is or are, but all I know is I want them, and the more I have of them, the better. So if the graphics card for this is more than enough for PS2 and Wii games, then that'd be great. Plus its Samsung so it'll match my Galaxy Note II.

for a 1000 buck laptops those are really weak Wacko
none of them is really well suited for pcsx2 or dolphin, depending on the games you want to play (gt4 is already a no-no on those systems)

Alienware M17xR4.
Alienware M18x.
Dell XPS 15 (Summer 2012).
Eurocom Scorpius.
Maingear Pulse 11.
MSI GT70 0NC-011US.
MSI GT70 0NE-276US.
Origin EON17-S.
Razer Blade (2012).
Samsung Series 7 Gamer.

I saw you started off with alienware and I gotta say that my budget is $1000 or more. I wanted a Razer Blade last year, but gosh darm if I didn't have a spare $3000 in my pocket. I like the idea of gaming laptops, but I'd rather have a thin and light, high-ish powered generic multimedia laptop since they're alot cheaper

I've got a Samsung Chronos 17" I7 and I love it. It really hasn't failed at anything I've thrown at it. I render 3d through the GPU and play various games up to and including Secret World which is one of the most demanding and it is able to play them all just fine. It is a big laptop though so if you are thinking portable look elsewhere.

I disagree, Its got a slower HD slower GPU and smaller screen. The Asus ROC was designed for Gaming, I have the G74sx and it works great with dolphin and Pcsx2

Cant afford anything over $1000.

And I'm really shooting for $900 because the tax on $900 products will push the price up to $1000
