Buying new proccessor

Currently, games like FFXII will run 37-60 FPS (with realtime priority)

And other games run at a moderate 50-60 FPS.

My computer specs are here

I'm thinking on replacing my AMD x2 64 4000+ 2.1ghz (SOCKET AM2) with
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6819103279

Because it seems affordable and it seems much better, It's .8ghz better... so i figure that will increase my game speed ALOT.

Was wondering if it was a good deal, or should I get an intel processor since people say they're better... but I'm looking at something less than 60 dollars.

intel is not good at that price range so probably what you found is better, still not a very fast cpu for pcsx2 (and in general)...
OS: Win 7 Ultimate x64 sp1, MoBo: Asus P5QD Turbo, CPU: Q6600 @ 3,0Ghz, RAM: Trancend 2x2gb 6-6-6-18 800 MHz, GPU: HD 4850 1gb.

the k8 architecture is pretty weak clock for clock.

Anything is faster than what I got, that was designed for mid ranged pc's 5 years ago lol.

How much speed should I expect to increase?

Doesn't seem worth it to me. Why don't u just overclock to get that .8GHz increase? If your mobo doesn't allow u to OC, then don't waste ur money on that processor since you won't really get that much of a boost.

Save your money and buy a new computer if you want to get good results in pcsx2.
Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.6Ghz
6GB DDR3 RAM
Nvidia 275 GTX Co-Op
HDD 2x750GB Raid 0
Mobo - Asus P6T
OCZ Game XStream 700W
Window 7 Ultimate

If you can overclock that much. That's almost 40% increase. Iirc, the older Athlons don't really overclock as well as Wolfdales.

Hmm, would the Athlon II X2's not work on your motherboard? I believe those are faster clock for clock.

You mention Intel which would mean a switch in motherboards which would cost more than $60, if you are planning on switching boards you could go with an AM2+ board along with an Athlon II (such as the 245 and 250 2.9-3.0ghz respectively) processor which would give you a good speed increase.
