Can a Patch be used as an FPS accelerator??
#1
I was wondering this because games like Final Fantasy X, X-2, XII and Kingdom Hearts 1, 2 runs with an FPS that always goes <60% on my computer, even with the best plugins and the configurations i got on the forums.

So if there IS a way to make a patch like that, would anyone tell me how to do it?? *please??*

No way, according to what patches do from PCSX2 0.9.6 Frequently Asked Questions
Quote:Are patches necessary?

Often they are not. In a few cases, they allow you to go further ingame compared to without, but by default you should leave them off. They can also be used for cheats.

So that you gotta disable speedhacks and build a new PC in order to gain more FPS, like you witnessed speedhacks might be troublesome in games.

The recommended hardware requirements for PCSX2 recorded in PCSX2's Googlecode.
Quote:Windows Vista / Windows 7 (32bit or 64bit) with the latest DirectX
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.2ghz or better
GPU: 8800gt or better (for Direct3D10 support)
RAM: 1GB on Linux/Windows XP, 2GB or more on Vista

You either go get a real PS2 or build up a new PC, somethimes computers in the old days just cannot perform that well Smile

Actually it's possible for many games as they do a fair bit of "busy work", some of which we can eliminate automatically with speedhacks but not all. However, creating these patches requires familiarity with the game's code and is of little use for the slowest games.

Depends on the game, FFX and KH should get enough speed (not full all the time), FFX-2 could be stretched a bit with very high speedhacks and FFXII I couldn't tell really but probably no...

If you want help with your speed, post your settings so we can help better.

well, my settings for FFXII are:

Graphics plugin: GSDx 890 (MSVC 15.00, SSE2) 0.1.14
>Resolution 1280X800 60Hz
>Renderer Direct 3D9 (Hardware)
>Shader pixel shader 2.0
>no interlacing
>Aspect ratio stretch
>D3D internal res native
>and checked texture filtering and Alpha Correction

I dumped my bios from my old Ps2

CPU config: checked EE rec, VU0, VU1, and multi thread GS
>frame limiting normal

Speedhacks: 1.5x cycle rate

Advanced: EE recs
>round mode positive
>clamp mode none
>checked fush and denormals to zero

VU recs
>same above

oh, and im using PCSX2 0.9.6
