Can someone please help me get the maximum performance out of PCSX2 possible?
#1
Hi,
I was just wondering what I could do to get the best possible performance out of PCSX2.
The specs of my computer are as follows:
Windows 8.1 64-bit
16GB DDR3 RAM
120GB SSD
2TB HDD
NVidia GTX GeForce 660
Intel Core i7 3.40Ghz

If any more information is required, please let me know.
Thank you in advance,

nothing.
your system is clearly up to the par and will play most games from playable speeds to full speed.
CPU : I7 2600K Oc'ed @ 4.2Ghz
Mobo : Intel P67 southbridge
GPU : NVIDIA Geforce GTX 750 Ti
RAM : 6 Go

I would have thought so. Games like Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex work perfectly. But games like Ratchet and Clank 2: Up your Arsenal has quite a lot of lag.

And on occasion, PCSX2 has a tendency to crash on at random moments, losing all my progress since I last saved. Any ideas what may be causing that?

crashes may have various reasons (need to analyse the emulog, then)

And as I said, MOST games will be playable.
if you can overclock to 4.2-4.5 ghz, ratchet & clank will be probably near playable.

Also you can test recommended speedhacks. For R&C you probably use the software renderer. Set extra rendering threads to 3 or 4 and see if that helps.

Well are you trying Ratchet and Clank 2 Going Commando, or R&C 3 Up Your Arsenal?

Thank you everyone for your help Smile
Enabling the speed hacks and altering the rendering threads has really helped R&C's gameplay Smile

However, since before I changed those settings Ive been getting really huge graphical errors. There can be textures that just don't load at all, leaving some enemies and buildings a solid colour. Is that an emulator glitch or could it possibly be my copy of the ISO file?
It has only happened on R&C thus far

the emulator, probably.
If you're not sure of it, give a try with your physical original PS2 disc.

but pressing F9 will probably solve the glithces you're talking about.

It's the lack of mip mapping support that causes the issues. The same happens to Ace Combat.
