Can't get 16:9 to work (shadow of colossus)

well, then it's settled as far as I'm concerned. seems the only way to play this 'true widescreen' is the ps3 remake, or a widescreen hack I don't think even exists. But I'll be playing it on 4:3, which is fine with me.
Thanks everyone!

SoTC works fine in 16:9. Change it via the in-game menu (no need for the bios, you can change it at any time after the game has loaded), and also change PCSX2 itself to 16:9 (cycle aspect-ratios with F6). I only have the PAL version, but I'd expect the US version to behave the same.

Really? You mean including aspect ratio? Because that would really confuse me.
I guess I should have posted this earlier, in the attachments is what I'm getting:
left is with 16:9 enabled in the in-game menu and using F6 to set to 16:9
right is 4:3 in the in-game menu and using F6 to set to 4:3

I think it's very clear that the left is just the same as the right, but stretched. Is that the correct behavior?

You should compare the left screenshot with a screenshot taken using 4:3 ingame and 16:9 using F6.

Well, then we're back to my original problem: the in-game option does NOTHING. It doesn't affect the game at all, unlike in final fantasy XII, where it properly changes what is displayed, so that it's not stretched on 16:9

Because of what I've seen on youtube, it seems to me that this is intended, because I haven't seen a single 16:9 video on youtube of SotC that isn't stretched (or the ps3 remake)
But if anyone here says they are getting non-stretched image on 16:9 on SotC, I'd be very confused.

Right. What me and yoyie here are getting is simply this. Putting the emulator settings to 4:3 and changing the in game aspect ratio to 16:9 does nothing. It stays at 4:3. The only way to make it 16:9 is through the emulator itself.

Can you post game footage with the 16:9 option on and off? (not menu footage, it may contain pre-rendered footage plus there are games that don't change the proportions of the text and other HUD ellements)

OH MY GOD

I feel incredibly stupid now... You are right, it works in game, but not in the menus...
So it turns out I've just been wasting my time by complaining about a stretched-looking menu...
I'll upload the videos I guess, so that everyone can laugh at me Unsure

Here are the videos

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOy4TGacdLY (4:3)

Doesn't look stretched, unlike the menu, which is totally stretched in the 16:9 version
So yeah, this thread is pretty much done. Thanks everyone

It still doesn't work for me...

I would record video but It'll take to long for me to do it. Fraps records uncompressed video and then I ahve to convert it and then I have to upload it.. Too much of a pain in the ass. In stead I got pics...
