Can you recommend a rig for PCSX2?

very limited experience with the 760, but did a ton of work on 755's - Definitely core 2 duo if its dual core. You're pushing min specs for pcsx on it.. Whats your cpu clock on that system?

Almost any core I whatever at 3.4 ghz will decimate your 760 on performance.. Hell, I bought a cheapy wallmart hp 500-123w a few years back (my i3 system) and dropped in a relatively cheap asus gtx 750 in there and was easily keeping up with most games.. Yes, the I5's and I7's, especially quad cores benefit the play (yeah yeah, I know stp is most important, but mtvu hack on a quad core is very helpful in a lot of games)
amd tr 1950x                                                 amd ryzen 5 2500u
asrock x399 taichi                                         amd vega 8
XFX Radeon rx570                                       16gb ddr 4 2400 ram
32gb gskill ddr4-3200                                   1tb nvme ssd
Debian Bullseye                                           480gb sata ssd
Custom loop water cooled                           HP envy x360

Modern cores are so capable that you can get some benefits from MTVU on even a dual core. Maybe not as much as a real quad, but even my pentium benefits from it. An i3 with hyperthreading, probably even more so.

dogen.. I don't deny that one. I saw some benefits on my i3 dual core.. but MUCH bigger jumps on my i7 quad core (same gen, same clock)..

It's not a regular tower, but it's got much better specs, especially for pcsx2. AMD makes good budget CPUs for regular pc gaming, but for emulation you really want to go intel.

There's also this one. It has a better GPU, but it's more expensive, and it might be a little slower for pcsx2.

I have to ask, how does a quad amputee play games? Is there like a special controller or software or something?

As to your question, These are 3 Intel based options you have. The first 2 are the same computer with different options, and all 3 are currently on sale so you want to jump on them quick if you like the price.

599$ = i3-6100/240GB SSD/2GB GTX 950/8GB DDR4: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6883102137

549$ = i3-6100/1TB HDD/2GB GTX 750ti/8GB DDR4: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6883102136

529$ = Pentium G4400/1TB HDD/2GB GTX 950/8GB DDR4: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6883102148

And here you can compare the Single Thread Rating of the 2 chips:

Ryzen 7 5800X | MSI MAG CORELIQUID 360R | MSI X570 unify | 32GB DDR4@3600 MHz (14-14-14-34) | EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 Ultra
1TB + 2TB WD Black SN770 | Windows 11 Pro x64

The one that was out of stock on amazon is in stock on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...57X2WJ4710

They have it for 569$, This one comes with the older GTX 745/DDR3 and windows 8.1. The other 3 come with win10. Here is the Single thread info on this chip:

This one has lower specs then the previously mentioned 549$ deal for an extra 20$, So I would Jump on that sale if I was you Laugh I hope my ranting helps you find something!

If it was me I would take the i3-6100 + 950 + 240 GB SSD, But I understand the HDD space thing, so yea. I think that is the best fit for him too Laugh but idk how long that sale is, after it ends it goes back to 650$, so I hope he logs in soon Tongue

Not being able to build one is a shame though I could do so much more inside that budget if we were picking parts...

Yes newegg is highly reliable (arguably more than amazon, especially because they focus only on electronics... amazon is kind of washed down now), I have never had a problem with them and am ALWAYS satisfied. And umm. I guess that is up to you, i don't bother with it because I can fix anything on a computer (it's been a hobby for years and years), but in your case it might be a good idea? If you are physically unable to fix it yourself, then it might be a good idea I guess, it really is on you Tongue
