Cannot get past the start/load menu screen in FFX-2

Hi there!

I'm a newbie to this forum and I've been having problems with the emulation of Final Fantasy X-2. I currently use a 2004 USA BIOS and the latest beta release of PCSX2 (ver. 0.9.7.3876m).

My current system specs:

Dell M4500 Precision Series laptop
i7-720qm processor (quad-core + 4 virtual cores @ 1.6 GHz per core, overclocks to 2.4 GHz for dual core)
4gb ddr3 1066MHz ram (unsure about the clock speed but I'm somewhat confident about that number)
NVIDIA Quadro 1800m
250gb 7200 rpm HD
Windows Vista Business Service Pack 2

I downloaded an iso for FFX-2 (I currently own a copy, so it's perfectly legal) and I loaded it in PCSX2 and I got through the opening video sequence and I'm stuck on the start/load menu.

Even though I press the keys assigned for the X-button and the start-button, nothing happens. No response at all. I've confirmed that I've correctly assigned the keys in the Lilypad plugin and that my keys are functional.
