Codebreaker V10
I tried using codebreaker v10 on pcsx2 for the first time trying to cheat on star ocean 3. Every time I load the game with or without cheats it crashes but it works with kingdom hearts 2. So I'm asking is there a way to get it to work and if not how can I cheat on star ocean.

I forgot to add that i am using 9.9 SVN from around 1 month ago

RE: Codebreaker V10
You can create your own pnach patch file for the game and not have to use codebreaker to load the game. The process is quite simple..

1. Download CB2crypt v1.1
2. Download PCSX2CE
3. Open CB2crypt
4. Run codebreaker with pcsx2
5. View the codes for the game within codebreaker ex: jackleg0 01234567
6. Enter the codes into the LEFT pane of CB2crypt and press decrypt
7. Copy the lines from the RIGHT pane of CB2crypt
8. Open PCSX2CE
9. Paste the lines into the LEFT pane of PCSX2CE and press convert
10. Copy the lines from the RIGHT pane of PCSX2CE
11. Open notepad
12. Paste the lines into notepad
13. Save the file in the cheats folder in the pcsx2 dir as CRC.pnach where CRC is the CRC of the game ex: 248E6126.pnach
14. Enable cheats under the file menu of pcsx2
15. Start the game normally with pcsx2 without using codebreaker
16. Check the pcsx2 console to make sure the cheats are activated

RE: Codebreaker V10
ok so I made a pnach file put it in the cheats and enabled it. It seems to work some red stuff showed on the console and I thought it was normal and then it started freezing and unfreezing shortly after and then it would crash and spam red stuff all over the console.

RE: Codebreaker V10
SO3 is very sensitive on cheats, wrong cheats(IE for different game version) or even working ones, but turned too much off them or in wrong area, can easily crash this game and that doesn't change whenever you use pnach directly or codebreaker/something similar. If you had loads or errors directly after using cheats, they're most likely wrong.

RE: Codebreaker V10
ya I thought that may be the case since the one I'm using is the SO3 greatest hits which is the translated directors cut version. So if the cheats are wrong do you know where I maybe able to find some that would work. I will look around for different ones in the mean time.
Also do I need the Master code for pnach cheats?

To understand what is going on you need to understand how pcsx2 handles cheats. What you are doing by putting those lines in the pnach file is telling pcsx2 to write/overwrite values directly to memory. If the memory address that is being wrote to is invalid or it is expecting a different datatype than is being wrote to it then the cheat will often crash the game or will yield unexpected results. When the memory address is invalid you will see TLB Miss in the console. So to keep it short and sweet some of the codes that you are using are probably bad and trying to write values to invalid memory addresses. I have ran across this several times with codebreaker.

Codebreaker codes are in the following format: 0A2F6F31 00000001
Note that this code is encrypted. This is where CB2crypt comes in handy to decrypt the code into a usable state. The unencrypted code is 005D14FC 00000001. In the following example 005D14FC is the memory address to be written to and 00000001 is the data to be written to that address. Sometimes you can look at the unencrypted code and tell it's not going to work. For example we know that 00000071 00000001 probably isn't going to work because 00000071 will be out of the allocated memory range for pcsx2.

What I would do from here is get on google and find codes for the game from Action Replay MAX or Gameshark and download an app called omniconvert to decrypt the codes. Make sure you set the input in omniconvert to match the cheat device (ex: Action Replay MAX) or the codes will not unencrypt right. Sometime in the near future i'll write a more indepth tutorial on cheats and pcsx2 but this should set you on the right track for the time being.

You do not need any master codes when using pnach files.

RE: Codebreaker V10
Thanks that was very clear and understandable. I will try action replay if the codes above don't work.

RE: Codebreaker V10
It's not like you cannot use omniconvert with codebreaker >.> cb crypt is really obsolete now, also there are lots of tutorials already about it, you basically need to know game version which is exactly pointed out by pcsx2 log when running it along with also needed crc number, doesn't matter at all for pnach format if the code was armax or codebreaker to begin with, it ends as raw anyway.
