Controller not responding

Hi,
I can get pcsx2 to run to the Browser/Kongfiguration screen but then when I have to X-select or slect what to do (use controller input) it does not work. The controller keysettings don't seem to stay set either. I've tried lilypad, sspx, using xbox 360 on windows controller, and keyboard. no contorller input.
