This may not help you that much, but try it out. Configure your settings so that when on Turbo, you will skip a set amount frames. For example, when I emulated Gran Turismo 4 on my mac, it was terribly slow when it started displaying any 3d rendered stuff. So when I began the racing stuff, I would use turbo mode, (which I had set to draw 2 frames and skip 4) and then it would play at around normal speed. When in menus and stuff, I would switch back to normal. The problem when you skip frames everything is super choppy.
