Couple of questions about PCSX2 & forum (just trying to lear)
#1
A couple of noob questions (please bear with me, as some day I hope to know enough to help others).

1) On the forums, I noticed (at least for me) the sorting is by the date created and not last activity. Is this suppose to be the way it is? Can one change it, etc? I asking because I opened a thread at:

http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-FPS-10-or...02X?page=2

and asked some questions, but haven't heard anything back and I'm wondering if its because it is not on the third page....

NOTE: On the thread, I'm trying to get PCSX2 running on my Son's Dell laptop (8 cores, 2.4Ghz with turbo to 2.8-3.0Ghz) . It runs fine / great on my Dell Precision Workstation (Quad 2.66Ghz). His is very slow in some areas (e.g. 20 fps), but I don't see the same issue. ----> I was able to get him from 8-16 fps by going to DirectX 10 Hardware.

2) My Son and I are avid "Final Fantasy XI" players. As I like to say: The family that FFXIs together stays together. LOL

Anyway, we have FFXI on two OLD Playstation 2 systems and own one PS2 that can't play FFXI. I think my Son is wanting us to move to the emulator because our three PS2's are having hardware issues (not related to the HDD or Ethernet so one possibility is to buy an used / refurbished unit). Yet, the emulator (once it works on my Son's laptop and can run all of our PS2 (or the majority of them) would be a great replacement).

So, are there plugins for both the Ethernet and HDD Playstation 2 add-on units. If yes, GREAT! If no, ah, what is the procedure either to request them OR find out how to write your own? (Yeah, I've been a programmer since 1974 (COBOL in HS, IBM 370 Assembly Language and 24 other languages in college, and then about a dozen more working on the job.)

3) I'd like to thank the developers of PCSX2. It is a GREAT and fun program! Also those who support it and those who test it for us! Ase we say in FFXI: /bow and /kneel

1) The forum displays as to the "last post" by default, if you scroll to the bottom there is some sorting options, if you choose to sort by "last post" that should fix it for you Smile

2) there are plugins for both HDD and Ethernet tho i cant remember if you can use them both at the same time (they are in the same dev9 plugin), plus i dont think the hard drive emulation works quite right :/ a guide to getting online with your game is here http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-How-To-Play-Online-Guide and the plugin you need is here http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Dev9-plugin hopefully Tongue

3) Thank you xD Good luck Smile

FF11 doesn't work with PCSX2 due to several issues.
The game doesn't even recognize the HDD.

i know this isn't PCSX2 related or if it'll work with FFXI but here, at least until FFXI works better through emulation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNHuG02V2LY

Ah, maybe I'm blind (at 55, it does start, though my driver's license says I don't need glasses). Anyway . . . I just don't see the option you're discussing.

I looked on both the Index page (http://forums.pcsx2.net/index.php) and the Window forum page (http://forums.pcsx2.net/Forum-General-Di...rt-Windows)

Thank you for your time and help, hopefully you'll be able to help this "old" guy see the light. LOL!

Some details on the system specs would be insightful. Smile

I'm mainly curious what the GPU models are, and perhaps the exact CPU model names are, as well.

(Note: "Hardware" rendering will actually utilize the GPU, unlike "Software". Consider "Hardware" as the standard.)

P.S. You're a 55 year-old programmer from "back in the day", who still plays FF games with his son. I like you already. Smile

I put the specs in the original thread (mentioned above), I'll save you the time and copy/paste them from the thread. ;-)

Rating: 5.4 Windows Experience Index
Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20Ghz (Turbo to 2.80 Ghz)
Installed Memory: 8.00 GB (7.90 GB usable)
System Type: 64-bit Operating System

Intel® HD Graphics Family
Approx Total Memory: 1696 MB

What else, if anything, would people need to know *and* how should I look it up for them (in your opinion)?

NOTE: The DirectX 10 setting is Hardware (I'm not with the machine to check it).

On liking me already, LOL! Thanks, really happy / glad to know. ;-)
