I think I fixed the problem by downloading and installing a older version (1.7.5380) and then manually updating version by version to the latest build.

you can't use internal updater ?

No, I can use it but I wanted to see which version I first had the issue come up and I started with v1.7.5380 and it didn't crash so I manually updated to each version to see if and when it crashed. I got to v1.7.5385 and it no longer crashes.

Considering there are multiple versions per day, it's possible you gotten a corrupted file or some other shenanigan that compounded onto itself. Glad this is not an issue no more.
