No, he can't. I have a WinXP for testing and tried all these latest DX10 hacks. It will even show the option to use DirectX 10 in GSdx, but PCSX2 will crash when starting up.

what plugin and how do you get dx 10 to come up in pcsx2.

The only possible plugin? GSdx 10 from Gabest @_@

More headache-free and reliable just to install another partition, install vista there and use it to run gsdx10 when you need it.
Trying various hackery is only going to lead to problems down the road if not at the start (which it obviously does since it refuses to run).

I think something should be cleared up here:
-All these DX10 hacks for XP do is telling applications that DX10 is installed as far as I know. This of course won't do any good.
-Vista doesn't eat up resources, it just takes resources on its own when other programs don't use them. Having RAM idle is a waste.

Actually, you're wrong, it does eat resources, I can run pcsx2 on linux faster (if I could use DX on it) because linux uses less than 128 mb of ram, while Vista uses 1gb, then "reserves" the rest of the space and only releases it after a while when a program requites it.

Vista releases cached RAM anytime it's needed. All it does is load files that fit the user's routine. If a 3d game starts, it dumps cached files to free up however much RAM is needed. It is the exact same system as XP, but more aggressive in its cache profiling when idle.

You need to get educated about Vista instead of using the disproven years old arguments that have virtually become internet relics.

if you're pointing that at me, I have been using vista since RC1, I know well how it works.

You're wrong if you think that Vista is great and doesn't eat up alot of resources LaughD
