I know about being on a budget. I built my rig after saving for 3 months, and I still ordered half the first month, half the second. 5 months to build in all. Mine cost $530 US.

I was just telling you the best advice possible, as far as the performance of a C2Q, I know it's single thread is ~1200 which is sub optimal. But that's about all I know.

Currently only £200, but I can't work because I don't have my system. I'm probably not going to get the CPU and get the Graphics card instead. Then just worry about getting 150 for the CPU and then 80/80 for the RAM and Mobo.

It took me more than a year to save up for my rig haha.

I've decided that I'm going to get my graphics card first, and then slowly save up for a mobo, then ram and finally the processor. It'll be much better for me in the long run considering I can still use the old Mobo, Ram and Processor I have in the system currently.

I'm assuming that's ATI/AMD? ya they're good cards for the money, but the drivers aren't that good. Not nearly as bad as they used to be, but still leaves a lot to be desired.

OP: If you choose to go with ATI/AMD then beware of the drivers not being so good. On the flip side if you go with nVidia I've noticed that cards cost more, but don't get the best performance for that cost. Long story short if you want performance, and want to be cost effective go with ATI/AMD. If you want good drivers, and have extra money go with nVidia.

I personally have an AMD HD 7870 and I have had it for 4 months and have never had a driver issue. Not to say they don't occur, but I don't think the drivers are as bad as a lot of people say.

Try forcing v-sync on a game like, say, The Sims 3. Oh that's right! you can't, because it simply doesn't work.

I'm not trying to bag on ATI/AMD hell I have one of their cards, and I love it. However you can't even get the basics (like forcing v-sync) right? come on.

If that's the case, then yeah that's a pretty big thing. At least fortunately for me though vsync is not make or break. Also I don't play the Sims 3.

Well that's not really the point. The point is that a huge company can't even get their drivers to do basic things that should work properly. I'm not asking for something that I didn't pay for, but I'm asking for basic functionality.

Anyway I'll stop derailing the thread. Cheers.
