Here's something interesting: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2012/09/ha...t-on-vita/

With this, emulators will be possible. I'm not saying PS2, but the PSVita is powerful enough to emulate some higher consoles than the N64 right?

I don't know about N64 but it would definitely emulate SNES games better than PSP. No one should be holding their breath for DC or PS2 emulators though, assuming a hack even comes through. Crown3DS also made some progress on 3DS but that didn't really pan out.

That exploit isn't even developed into something yet.
Dedicating time into an emulator only to find out it can't be used on the target machine because the exploit was fixed?
Not so nice.

We could probably port nds4droid since they both run on ARM architecture and it is open-source.

RE: Dev Ideas of PCSX2-Vita?
Even if you forget everything correctly @rama said, I doubt people would rewrite the source to ARM assembly which is the only possible way to archieve playable speeds with PSVita. Even if they do, by the time it will be ready to get published or at a playable state PSVita will be as old as Gamecube is now in Nintendo homeconsoles timeline. I think that developers should learn that lesson from now on and when they start a new project they should develop something that is cross platform or develop in parallel with other architectures since the days that interest was nearly exclusive on x86 belongs to the past and seems that the future will change that even more to a point that it could even cause a serious issue with fragmentation.

RE: Dev Ideas of PCSX2-Vita?
Like rama said, this is exactly the same reason we won't spend time doing a PS3 port. Basing the idea that we port it on the reliance of a custom firmware hack being in place is futile and extremely risky. In the PS3's case, the last hacked firmware was 3.55 before they changed the hypervisor and the keys, since then there have been "claims" people have got the keys so programs can be signed (where sony have said if anybody does this, they will be sued) so most people have come off custom firmware, simply because all the new games they want to play won't run on it.

Im sure the vita is going to head down a similar route, so im sure i speak for everybody on the team when i say, i think we should just focus on the PC version.

RE: Dev Ideas of PCSX2-Vita?
ps vita not cost effective

game super expensive US$ T_T

U.S company getting greedy and greedy

currently pcsx2 emulator take 10 years still haven't fully complete yet due to many difficult program code , math code , GPU code , bug so on...
ps3 emulator if got take 300 years

ps vita emulator if got take 200 years

hopefully pcsx2 emulator can finish up 100% compatible another 20years time

RE: Dev Ideas of PCSX2-Vita?
to be honest and respectful of the machines, and the pcsx2 devs:

PS3 and PC have completely different architecture
PSVita and PS3 are different

While it would be faster and more productive (perhaps) on a PS3 or PSVita, it would require a 100% rewrite, and as soon as it was finished, or before, they'd have to reformat it again, due to firmware updates
