Direct3D10/11 (Hardware) mode missing
#1
I'm not getting the "Direct3D10/11 (Hardware)" menu option in GSdx which is displaying a title graphic "GSdx9" in the settings window. The highest speed menu option I get is "Direct3D9 (Hardware)".

I'm running Vista64 on a Quad core Q6600 with 8GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 9800GT. I followed the download link to update my version of DirectX and the installer said it was already up to date (version 10).

My Nvidia driver is version 8.17.12.8026, maybe 3 months out of date but when I updated it my external display stopped working so I reverted for now. Is a 3 month old card driver a problem?

I wouldn't mind but I'm getting pretty bad slow down in Odin Sphere so I was hoping Direct3D10 will make the difference. I've read through the complete guide but run out of ideas, any suggestions?

Here's the log in case it helps

Download the DirectX June 2010 redist.
Extract the files where ever (you can delete them when you're done).
Run the DXSETUP.EXE file among what you extracted.

DirectX may say it's up-to-date, but the necessary files can still be missing.

Q6600 at it's stock speed is too slow even with speedhacks for many games. Overclock to at least 3GHz which i am yet to see ANY fail to do even on stock cooler (any stepping), then try it.

I've never overclocked before and its my work machine so until now I've been cautious, however I've got good cooling installed, my core temps are around 36 idle. Any good guides on overclocking you know of to get me started, its an Intel DX975XBX2 Bad Axe motherboard, I think I remember reading they overclock OK?

@Rezard, I'll give it a go tonight if I get time. Thanks for the tip.

a few cautions steps :

1-never do big steps !

2-track and test !

3-check your temp @ load

4- make sure your RAM are ok you are BCLK OCing here Wink

Actually, it's FSB for the Core 2 series. ;P
(same concept, though)

Hey thanks everyone, guess I should put it down for a weekend when I'm not reliant on my PC. My RAM is ECC, I know its slower but I wanted the stability back when I built this PC as my previous PC broke down and it took me several RMA's and one nightmare to find the cause (the AMD CPU's).

I just did the DXSETUP.EXE update but still no DirectX10 in the settings window, I've a feeling I'm missing something stupid.
