Do I need a new graphics card for PCSX2?

I've got PCSX2 running on my computer, and during cutscenes/start screens it works great, but... In actual game play the screen flashes on and off, and there's a delay in reaction. What I mean by that is if I press UP, my character won't actually jump until about 1 sec after I press the buttion. (It's delayed on everything I do, even menu/ cutscenes)

I get 55-57 FPS on menu.
17-21 FPS on in game control

If you told us which game it was it would rally help. Your PCSX2 and plugins used too...

If you dont get full speed (60fps) it will be lagged so no surprise there.

Tell us what game is it and show us what settings you are using so we can help you better.

But yeah, that card isnt helping you at all and the processor isnt that good either but you should be able to achieve playable speeds on some games.

The biggest cause of slowdown will be your graphics card, that said just because you get a new one will not guarantee you get full speed on all games (though you will get a very noticable increase)

For the lag in pressing a button, double check that you don't have Vsync enabled in the graphics settings. There is a bug in the current PCSX2 builds that causes input delay with vsync enabled. Said bug will be fixed by the time 0.9.7 is released (and I believe is currently fixed/being worked on in SVN though I think MTGS is broken or at least buggy in the new builds)

Well I put "Native" on and the flickering is gone.
The game is Kingdom Hearts 2.

Downloading the latest beta would help somewhat as well. That can be gotten from the download portion of the forums then clicking "public beta" near the top.

That said, the onboard graphics card just isn't going to do it for you for most PS2 games even at native resolution. You shouldn't have to get too expensive if you don't want/need super high resolution.

Or if you have a bit more to spend http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...-_-Product would get you a bit higher resolution in most games.

Sorry if it's a stupid question, but if I had to I wouldn't mind spending $40 for a better graphics card.

Yeah it is.
You should try setting Pixel Shader 3 on GSdx and checking 'Logarithmic Z'

Those cards are PCI-E 16x cards, both will work fine with your PC as it states on that newegg page that it does have an available slot.
