If other please specify:
GSDX 0.1.16 AVX
SPU2-X 2.0.0
cdvdGigaherz (r0) 0.8.0
USBnull Driver r0 0.7.0
FWnull Driver r0 0.7.0
DEV9null Driver r0 0.5.0

BIOS Used: USA v01.60 (07/02/2002)

EE/VU Clamp modes: Normal/Normal
EE/VU Rounding: Chop/Chop

Speedhacks Used:

N/A

Gamefixes Used:

N/A

Amount of testing done (little/medium/much/completed-game): completed-game

Comments:

On initial load before scene on screen is shown, sound is choppy. Fine afterwards unless you have a lesser powered machine and then it can get choppy on every area change.

Basche's flame purge requires a high powered processor, a 6+ core processor, or more than 4gb of gddr5 ram in order for that scene not to lag tremendously on hardware mode.

Bugs:

All Famfrit and Phoenix boss fights have bad shadows in hardware mode.

Status
Playable

PCSX2 can't even take advantage of that many cores so that's false. And you don't even get Gddr5 ram. Only in video cards, besides that's one of the worst ways of measuring a GPU's power : Video Ram

Actually it can in software mode. Going off his bug, he might be using software mode. But yes for hardware mode a Quad Core CPU is optimal

It can? but I thought using more than 3 extra rendering didn't do anything. Core + 3 = 4 = Quadcore.
Confused

yeh and Core + 5 = 6 = Hexacore. You can use more, but for quad cores 3 is optimal. 5 might work fine for six cores.

I know you can use more but does it bring any benefit to FPS at all?

I always see people making threads asking for build advice and they get told not to get more than quadcore as this is useless for pcsx2. So they are giving wrong advice?

split off in to general discussion for further debate Smile

I wouldn't call it bad advice as such, just different advice. Most people advise assuming the user is going to be using hardware mode 99% of the time, software mode is sort of a backup plan, so it takes less priority of the chain of importance.

I have a hexcore.

I find best results with 3 extra threads in software, but this is why I think:

Core 1: EE
Core 2: GS
Core 3: VU
Core 4: Software
Core 5: Software
Core 6: Software
