Dog's Life crash

Hi there,

I recently ripped one of my older games, this being 'Dogs life'
When loading up the game I get the splash screen, it gives me the option to select a language and as soon as I do so the VU spikes to 100%-110%(wat) and PCSX crashes entirely. I've tried several game hacks to no avail, I was wondering what the issue was and how it could be fixed.

My specs:

OS = Windows 7 Ultimate SP 1 64-bit
RAM = 8135 MB
CPU = i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40GHz
GPU = GeForce GTX770

That's odd, VU spikes to 110%? First time seeing that. Just wondering, can one of the devs explain why that happens?
