Dragon Quest 8 loading/memcard issue

hello, all. I'm trying to play a gamefaqs save in Dreagon quest 8, an all-time favorite game of mine. if i run pcsx2 in "no disc" mode, I can see the card and the save on it in the ps2 browser. if I "fast" boot DQ8, the game runs brilliantly, but it doesn't see the save. if I "full" boot it, the screen goes black and returns to the ps2 browser. any suggestions?

I'm on a laptop, 8g ram, 2.2ghtz i7, radeon 4650, windows 7.

Your save must be corrupted IMO.
Download it again and try.Or the save might be for a different region of the game and yours is different.Better check that out too.
