Dragon Quest VIII configuration?

What does "CPU" say at the top of GSDX? if it says 99% i suggest getting the new GSDX revision and ticking the "Allow 8bit Textures" box, this should improve things slightly.

However if you are running in DX9 mode, it may be a lot slower than DX10 would be

This specific game performs better in DX10 of GSDX than DX9, approx 6FPS improvement once I played on PCSX2 0.95.
durable PC since 2008
CPU : E7200 @ 2.53 GHz 1.04 V / OC 3.7 GHz 1.36 V (390*9.5, 4GB DDR2 780)
GPU : 8600GT (GDDR3, 256 MB) / OC (750 / 900)
BOARD : GA-EP31-DS3L (rev 1.0) broken and bought a second hand one replaced

But for now it's faster on GSDX9 than GSDX10 on DQ8 NTSC-US.

Test until arrive at the first town and you can roam around. Almost above 60FPS, occasionally dropped, the lowest 53FPS.

PCSX2 r1586
speed hacks
Use x2 Cycle Rate
VU Cycle Stealing - MAX (for 3D speed up)

GSDX r1584
Direct3D9 Hardware
D3D internal res 1024 by 768 (for balance between image quality and speed, you can use native for speed but worse quality)
Allow 8-bit textures (unticked, since it will reduce speed)

This game is Video Card restricted, 8600GT is a weakness at this time. overclock E7200 from 2.53GHz to 3.8GHz won't help with speed.

I have FPS problem And I have used settings listed here and none helped.
As of right now My Hero is just outside of Baccarat Church. FPS is 38-40
EE 30 - 34% GS 24 - 30% VU 31 - 34% UI 0 - 1%.
It is clearly not a hardware problem since all the stats are low but yet FPS
are low. It is also like this in voiced conversions with more then one person on the screen. I can get FPS to rise to be 55 to 58 during conversations by lowering the resolusion. but it still lags in busier parts of any town.
