Dragon Quest VIII on a laptop

I am trying to get Dragon Quest VIII to run on my rig:

Windows 7
i7 -720QM
ATI 5730 2GB
4GB RAM

I've been playing around with different configurations - can someone let me know what a good configuration is for this game on a laptop? Is it possible to get this to run decently (I don't need high resolution, but I'd like it to be playable).

Check out this thread for the config I use on my laptop as well as a decision you will have to make regarding a higher resolution display vs. crisp text.

I chose to go with the higher resolution display since the text issues are a very minor issue when compared to the improvement of the display.

I'll check back and see if you have any follow-up questions after trying this.
