Drakan 2 random freezeups

Thanks for that info. I will try and match your settings as close as I can and give it another shot. I have the PAL SCES 50006 DVD.

Your info says you had minor graphical glitches...does that include the messed up trees, ground and NPC textures like in our screenshots above or were they not that bad for you?

They're not that bad actually (I can capture and show you the worst variant of it). Some trees are looking weirds sometimes. But they are MINOR. Skippable and forgettable. I'm using DX9 in GSDX.
Please if you find that DX9 is the key to success here or any GSDX switch be so kind to update the page. For the sake of other users (I do not have Vista to test DX10). I'd like this wiki to be of some use.

I get the same results with directx 9 or 10 so far. I'm going to stick with PCSX2 -r1888, since the freezing is fixed, and concentrate on the graphical glitches.

I'm not sure what these settings are in your description. Can't find any options that resemble those in PCSX2 -r1888: "EE x2, INTC, IOP x2, Idle Loop, VU Stealing 3"

I guess they are still to implement them. These are the hacks to make it run faster (it might be considerably slower without them, although I've never gave a shot to 1888 I think it's not yet that advanced in options as 1736 is).
By the way there're no freezes in 1736 either. But after the freezings were fixed the emu started to crash when switching to a new location so you'll be needing r710.

And if you want to talk about the options required to run it smoother why don't we use

instead? If you like the game and the info I gave sometimes is incorrect please update it.

Just fyi, I found the revision that breaks the tree textures. It's a path3 masking issue, so no telling if it'll ever be fixed again.
The last working rev would be r1384.

Where could I get that? Is it 0.9.6 r1384 or 0.9.7 or what?

Oh, never is t-o-o-o-o-o long. I think you're trying to look too far. Maybe tomorrow you'll find a little trifle in the code and this issue will be fixed (forever?) Smile

I think the only option is to compile it yourself or ask somebody to compile it for your. And if it will be that useful for the game may I ask you a favor to provide the download link on the drakan page or here:

Oh, I would not know how to compile dog poo...but, I did google a bit and found version 0.9.7.1913 (can't find the exact link again now but TONS of versions here: *removed*)

Results:
1. Very little trouble with the graphics on the trees. I saw it but only briefly and only once or twice.
2. With the speed hacks/tweaks, it was running at 100% and even a bit over at time...very, very fast compared to 0.9.6 or the 1888 release on the PCSX2 page.
3. I can't find anyway to run the PS2 bios alone to set up language and time and all that.
