Dumping PS2 BIOS (w/ Codebreaker 7.1+).. Help its not working
#11
Took me long enough but in 2011 I was finally!! able to dump my complete v7 (2002-2003) PS2 BIOS ^_^

off-topic slightly??
I have been playing FF12 (70+ hours of grinding later loi ;D)(had to image the DVD for it to work right loi), and started a bit of FF10 before that

with a
Windows XP Pro 32bit SP3
Intel Pentium D 945 3.4GHz
Nvidia GTS 250 512 MB

I am getting "ok" frame-rates most of the time more or less more.. more intensive areas I get 20-35 PCSX2-interlaced-mode

ps: I attached a Speccy Log file with my complete system specs for the curious.

Your pc is really weak.....If you want to play good, need a machine with strong CPU with 4 cores like mine Intel Core i7-3770 @ 3.4 Ghz Overclocked @ 4.0 Ghz (Amd are awful for emulation) ...Same for your video adapter....Nvidia GTS are really old and 512 MB RAM are not enough..System RAM minimum i suggest you 8 GB DDR3 @ 1600 Mhz or for best performance @ 2400 Mhz and use SSD hard disk for maximum performance.....

I have an old 2007 LAN Center Gaming Rig + some upgrades like the GPU..

I volunteered(2008 Economy issues, so I made the choice) for a place called Galaxy Gaming here in my Home town of Dover NH, USA...
from June 2008 till he was forced to close in August of 2011 due to dwindling biz ;_;

He gave my the BEST GAMING RIG IN THE HOUSE (PC #2) ;^_^; ;^_^; ;^_^;

if/when I ever see $$$$ again... I will build a new rig ;^_^

here is the FB page I created for G2

I am bringing MY topic back to active status..

I just got in today a PS2(v16)(SPCH-79001)(NTSC-USA)

so I can dump its BIOS too and hope for a better PCSX2 experience..

BUT both of my current USB flash drives are 32GB each..
the thing is the CodeBreaker UI is locking up when either are inserted..

If I remove them, CB will recover after a 3-8 seconds and be responsive again...
so Idk..
I am considering getting a 1GB flash drive as my original was only Corsair Flash Voyager 2GB I think...

Quote:My CodeBreaker is version: (v10.0)(09/02/2006)(Build: 1c6b)

MY flash drives are a:
- Silicon Power 32GB Touch T03 Unicorn Special Edition USB 2.0 Flash Drive
- SanDisk Ultra Fit™ CZ43 32GB USB 3.0 Low-Profile Flash Drive Up To 130MB/s Read- SDCZ43-032G-G46

Any thoughts??

EDIT(2017-11-01)(09:24pm):
I have used a TOOL called
- BOOTICE (v1.332)(x64)
works great for re-partitioning my spare 32GB flash drive..
BUT CodeBreaker is still locking up..
I have tried
- 1GB FAT32
- 512MB FAT32
- 512MB FAT16
and send all the rest of the allocation to the 4th partition.. left it as ExFAT and tired FAT32..
not one config worked...

I may just have to buy a NEW USB flash drive
1GB was the smallest I could find on Amazon.com...

any recommendations?!

Use the bios dumping tool from here. launch ulaunch.elf with codebreaker's elf feature. and then launch it using that. But this again might be an issue with the slimline ps2s. I would say try to install freemcboot first. and then bypass codebreaker entirely. I was able to dump my bios to a 32gig usb drive so i can confirm the size isn't the problem.

ooh you don't say.. Wink Tongue
what the specs for your flash drive?
make? model? size your already mentioned..

I have
- ps2dumper_v2.elf <-- PCSX2 provided
- DUMPBIOS-MASS.ELF <-- PCSX2 provided but older

- Bios.cbs file linked from a YouTube vid on PS2 BIOS dumping... not sure about this one..
I use to have the custom [ pelican.bin ] linked on the official PCSX2 BIOS dumping guide..
BUT I no longer have that file.. PLUS.. the url to it on that thread is long since BROKEN...

so anyway..
I ordered a $5 1GB Kingston USB 2.0 Flash Drive off of Amazon.com..
but I might not need it...
hmm...

- ulaunch.elf ????
I didn't see a link?
So is that one of those no no files?
That I have to Google myself? lol Wink Tongue

While I have CB v10.0 2006
I have never seen a direct elf feature I can recall..
unless you mean renaming the file to pelican.bin??

the other point you seemed to have missed is my new PS2 and CodeBreaker is locking up when I put in either of my
USB flash drives... Sad

I hooked up my old/original PS2 SCPH-39001

loaded the pelican.bin through CodeBreaker..
loaded the SMS utility like before.. and exited to boot.elf in bad-data
was able to run....

here are the results:
- ps2dumper_v2.elf <-- v2.00, locks up, "waiting for USB flash drive" to load..
- DUMPBIOS-MASS.ELF <-- v1.00, LOADS and DUMPS just like it did in 2011 when I dumped my PS2 BIOS..

as it happens I have a McBoot memory card coming in the mail in a week or soo.
when ever the USPS feels like updating the tracker.. lol Wink

now I wonder if it will work..
strange.. I specifically went

LOL yeah of course it is Tongue I did mention it above a few times at least
I tried.. FAT32 and then FAT16 since the partition tool tried to set it too that
when I set the size to just 1GB or 512MB
nothing worked.. it kept causing CodeBreaker to freeze up... BUT
once I removed the flash drive... after a few seconds.. CodeBreaker became
responsive again...

For some reason cb is also freezing(it is actually running at really low speed)if my flash drive(1gb)is inserted during cb launch
So I just start cb and then plug the flash drive and it works fine when I want to add some new codes

I'm using modchip to start ulaunch.elf
