Private server can currently get through memory card patching process, account login screen, server select screen and into the character select/creation screens. Sony still validates the discs through DNAS. Possible to roam the map offline using PCSX2 0.9.7 and modified savestates. Game seems to be very compatible. Link in my signature has tons of information on the project. Here is a video demonstration of the current server as well.

Here are my settings and hardware for the offline free roam:
i5 4690k 4.2GHz
GTX 970

PCSX2 0.9.7.r3876 (modded)

USA 2.2 BIOS

GSDX 3693 SSE4.1
Direct3D11 Hardware Mode
6x Scaling
Texture Filtering and Allow 8-bit Textures

Standard Speedhacks enabled
EE and VU cycles at default rates

Game runs a smooth 60fps everywhere even at 6x and looks way better than on the console. The most demanding location is in Freeport where there are still left over NPCs and other characters from the savestate.

To connect to our private test server I do but that is basically only getting through menus at this point and the requirements are very low. Our server isn't coded far enough to get in the world yet. We are just sending back the packets we have from a live pcap at this point, the only differences are the appropriate packet headers and CRC. 

The offline version was made by modding an old savestate made in 0.9.7 when the official servers were still live. We have some talented cheat engine users Biggrin . There is no possible way of transferring that savestate to a newer version, correct?

Comments:

this game is currently unplayable. there are a couple reasons.

1. DEV9(ethernet and hard drive) plugin was recently integrated but lost a lot of functionality that some plugins had that has to be reinserted
2. The servers went down March 29 2012 and no private servers exist though i have heard recently one has been worked on..

Comments: This game is back online using a fan made server. You will need to use Christian DNS or Sandstorm DNS to make this work. Skip DNAS code is also required.

Game works at good speed without any graphical glitches.

What basically works:

creating account
logging in
creating characters
moving around
rudimentary combat, 1 melee attack, a few abilities
friendly pet and healer NPC
a few test NPC's placed near Darvar Manor
now also using a database of over 15,000 NPC's from Dustin Faxon
simple combat AI
chatting, who list, emoting
coaching/teleports
preliminary pathfinding
preliminary looting and inventory, incomplete
roaming NPC's in certain areas

Bugs:

Not all elements of the online server are currently emulated. Hopefully in future it can be called playable.
