FF-X : "what's going on?"
#1
after the first big fight with this sin fat sin creature you awake on the beach.
then you talk with another wounded. he says : "what's going on?"
after that the screen lightens up, turns white like a transition but then pcsx2 crashes.
this happens with 0.94 0.95beta and the official PG release.

thus after playing 10+ hours pcsx2 leaves me, quite literally stranded

i fiddled with the plugins /settings nothing seemed to help.
i guess most people didn't play 'FF-X recently with PCSX2 - at least no that far in the game.

til this point i had not close to any such a prob - this is a real turnoff - no pun intended Ninja

I have recently finnished FFX and played it all the way throiugh, and now I've allmost finnished FFX2. I havent had any problems like that. I only have problems with the movies and cut scenes, but the game plays well.

We need more info to even take a guess about what's wrong.
Start by listing all plugins used, exact PCSX2 version and all settings.

@DaMuncha: did you play it with 0.95+
using the PG release, regardless which one, it freezes at that spot.

Is there a better way than this old "bug reporter" utility to dump the
plugin settings.
To manually list all these settings takes like 30mins.

What i guess would most likely fix it to use pcsx 0.92 at this spot.
It seems though, that version vanished off the internet.

The bug reporter will not work with the latest Playground build...so practically most of the stuff it outputs are useless I'm afraid.
Start by listing only PCSX2 settings and not plugins. And also use ZeroSPU2 instead of Peops.
Edit: 0.9.2 can be easily found here, along with everything old: http://www.generalemu.net/pcsx2archive/

After I tried 0.92 and having the same bug, feeling like going crazy fast, i return to this thread:

Quote:Start by listing only PCSX2 settings and not plugins. And also use ZeroSPU2 instead of Peops.

ver. PCSX PG 1.0.0.395, first official playground release
process priority -> normal
[CPUConfig]
EERec - EE/IOP recompiler: set
VU Recomplilers
VU0rec: set
Vu1rec: set
Multi threaded GS mode: not set

Frame Limiting: Limit; Detailed Settings (0;0;0;0)
GameFixes: non
SpeedHacks: 'stable' configuration
Advanced Options: all set to 'default'

Graphics Plugin: Either GSDX or ZeroGS both result in same error
Sound plugin : PEOPS or ZeroSPU2
Controller plugin: SSSPSX 1.7.0 Pressure Mod
DVD plugin Linuzapps CDVD 0.7.0

I tried all version from 0.92 up to the latest PG release (build 08 Januar 09). I wasted hours on this problem and i think i have to give up.
Often things seem to be too good to be true, i guess this is one of them
What really bugs me though is, how utterly flawless it runs til this point and than just flat out crashes.
Does anyone know if at this point another FMV is shown?
While i had probs displaying FMVs with GSDX (it constantly switches between the last 3d scene and the actual FMV) it never crashed because of that.
What intrigues me even more is that noone seems to have
stumbled upon this issue before

Try using Peops CDVD with it,either using the actual disc or mounting your ISO in a virtual drive. It is said that plugin can get through some weird crashed with the game.

Thanks for your reply @Bositman but it didn't help either.
I tried exchanging each and every plugin used basically every official and pseudo official release of PCSX2 and i always get the same crash at the same moment.
Ie., after you talk with the one survivor at the beach the screen scrolls to the side then it lightens up, like a transition to a different scene or a FMV but then just crashes.
Up to that point i only had minor irks but not a single crash.
And i'm loading from a save game , not a save state , so it's not that a corrupt save state could be the issue.
I am at my wits end.
Well, more time to study, which i should be doing anyways.
Someday i may look back and thank PCSX2 for its strategically placed bugs Laugh
