FFX - 30 FPS ingame, 20 FPS FMV
#1
Hey all! I've gone through countless guides/configurations on these forums to try and optimize my FMV framerate; I have been unable to break 20-30 FPS. I am concerned that my CPU is not dualcore, but my device manager shows two processors on the drop-down menu. Here is a summary of my system specs:

(EDIT: I should also say that the drop in FPS applies to in-game cutscenes i.e. those not controlled by the player.)

(EDIT #2: I should have simply said i get about 30 FPS all around, even in-game. I assumed that my menu FPS would be the same as in-game; this was incorrect. Taking this into consideration, does anyone have any suggestions on how to increase it?)

x86 init:

FamilyID: 9
x86 Family: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.40 GHz
CPU Speed: 3.394 GHz
Cores: 1 physical [2 logical]
x86PType: Standard OEM
x86 Flags: bfebfbff 00004400
x86EFlags: 00000000

2 Gigs of Ram
ATI Radeon 9600 Series/X1050 Series

Those should be the important specs, iirc.

I have no speed hacks running, with the 2x cycle radio button selected.
I'm using the GSDx9 plugin and have Nloop selected. Basically, I have tried all of the suggestions. Is it just my computer that is holding me back? Or is there a certain setting that I can activate to maximize performance? Thanks guys!

It is your computer holding you back, and there is not much you can do other than changing a new computer.

and 2 processors in the device manager means hyper-threading. there's not much you can do besides buying a new computer.

buy a core 2 duo around 3.2-3.5 ghz..

quad cores are also good with GDSx software mode, you can allocate 3 cpu to video rendering

but nothing beats a HD4870 or higher with hardware mode in gdsx

I managed to do it but it only runs 60 FPS consistently above 3.8 ghz with speedhacks. You probably don't want to risk your processor so wait until you upgrade to Core 2 Duo, it's going to be 2.5-3x faster for you with those speedhacks I'm using.

EE cyclerate -50%, VU cycle stealing at 3 on the latest beta and some of the other checkboxes ticked just for the frames they provide.
