FFX: Slowdown while displaying particle effects - why?
#1
Exclamation
Hi!

I am using PCSX on Win7 on a MBP 11 with 8GB RAm, i7 and an ATI 6750m. It runs with 200% if I enable turbo on nearly all parts of the game - beside scenes with particle effects like magic (demi is a performance killer deluxe). Any idea what can be the cause? The framerate is near 10% in this moments. AA is disabled and there is no difference between DX9 and DX11 renderer.

ofcourse it is going to be slower Tongue

your GPU isn't strong enough to render these effect at full speed in your desired res Smile

PCSX2 settings? plugin settings?

Try ticking the "Native" checkbox in GSdx and disabling "Allow 8-bit textures".

you probably have the DDR3 version of the 6750 which has 25.6-28.8GB/s framebuffer/memory bandwidth depending on the memory clock speed, and are using higher than 2x scaling.

Quote: Engine clock speed: 500-725 MHz
Processing power (single precision): 480-696 GigaFLOPS
Polygon throughput: 500-725M polygons/sec
Data fetch rate (32-bit): 48-69.6 billion fetches/sec
Texel fill rate (bilinear filtered): 12-17.4 Gigatexels/sec
Pixel fill rate: 4-5.8 Gigapixels/sec
Anti-aliased pixel fill rate: 16-23.2 Gigasamples/sec
Memory clock speed: 800-900 MHz GDDR5 or DDR3
Memory data rate: 3.2-3.6 Gbps GDDR5 or 1.6-1.8 Gbps DDR3
Memory bandwidth: 51.2-57.6 GB/sec (GDDR5) or 25.6-28.8 GB/sec (DDR3)

I have a MacBook Pro (brandnew) with Bootcamp.

this means crap to me. it doesn't tell me the exact specifications as like i said, the graphics chip comes in 4 vram configurations.

On my HD 4570 with 512 MB DDR3, Demi slows down the game to 20 FPS (2x native resolution).

expected of 12.5GB/s

I was actually impressed by the 425M with Demi, since people with much stronger cards seem to get it worse, I seem to get about 80% full speed with demi(and the slowdown is less than 10 milliseconds, virtually unnoticable).

Because its a mobile GPU and is only "25" not anything like "40". Odd that the higher clocked desktop GPUs seem to get this??

Most GPU are More then Capable of Rendering Primitive PS2 Graphics, its not Like FFX has the Graphics of Crysis.

If the Game is Slowing down then your CPU is not powerful enough
