FFX disk works, but ISO won't
#1
Hey guys

I just set up PCSX2 using the configuration guide posted and for the most part things worked fine. I can run FFX perfectly from the disk, but if I make an ISO out of it and try to run that, it just comes up with a black screen and stays that way.

I used Imgburn to create the iso file.
I'm running PCSX2 version 1.2.1
System specs:
Core i5 4440 3.1 GHz
8GB RAM
AMD R7 240

Any ideas on what's wrong?

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

You have some dvd read errors. Somehow your iso appears to be broken. Just to be sure try to run pcsx2 as admin as pcsx2 lacks rights to write/save your settings.

Hmm ok. I'm already ran as administrator after googling around a bit but still no fix.

Before Imgburn, I tried using Poweriso, but it couldn't even read the file and it came up with the maroonish screen saying to please insert a disk. Then after googling around I tried Imgburn and although it registered that there's an iso, it just came up with the black screen.

Is there a specific way I should be making an iso file? I just highlighted all the files in the FFX disk, right clicked > Poweriso > Add to image file... and saved it as an iso in the selected directory.

Create the image with ImgBurn and post the emulog after you try to run the ISO while using the ISO Selector(the log above is from the DVD disk not the image)
If its from the image, then you mounted the image and used gigahertz to run the game.

Btw I have the opposite problem...most of my game will not run from the disk but if I made an image of the game, then it works fine(if I mount that image,it will not work again...maybe some kind of problem between gigahertz and the pc occurs)

And btw, your account is limited in some way(those "error 5: access is denied" means that)

(GameDB) Unloading...

I'm pretty sure it's more or less the same as the other log I posted up

I think I read somewhere that I should install somewhere other than Program files, so I guess I'll try reinstalling in just my D drive. I'm the admin of the computer so I can't see why it's stuffing up

I typically install PCSX2 directly under my C drive just to avoid any user account control errors. I see you have a pretty new processor so you might as well try one of the latest 1.3.1 git versions from here:

Tried reinstalling to the C drive directly, selected ran as administrator and still having the same issue. Disk works, but the iso won't. But found something interesting.

I tried the same method with Ratchet Gladiator, and it's the same issue as FFX. the iso won't work, but it seemed to run fine with the disk. Then I tried Spiderman 2. Converted it to the iso using Imgburn, and it worked on PCSX2! The interesting thing is that the conversion to the iso file took a lot longer for Spiderman 2 compared to FFX and Ratchet Gladiator so I suspect that might have something to do with it.

Any ideas on what to do?

Also is 1.3.1 as stable as 1.2.1?

Yep. Most of the time the dev builds are as stable. Often releases are slightly faster than dev builds due to complex optimizations. However currently 1.2.1 is much older than the dev builds and i think 1.3.1 is faster and more compatible (at least the ogl renderer).

Can you select the dvd read time in imgburn during creating the iso? I am quite sure you can but can not remember (and i am on phone). Please select a lower read speed if possible.
