FFX problems
#1
Hi all, new to this PS2 emulation stuff (well last time I tried was a number of years ago!). I'm trying to play Final Fantasy X but it keeps crashing PCSX2. Usually get into an early part of the game (for those that know it, Zanarkand after Sin arrives, and you partner up with Auron) and I've never got to the point where Sin takes you out of Zanarkand. The crash happens anytime after that point. I've tried it on 2 different PC's, my laptop (treading water I know!) and HTPC.

Laptop
Core 2 Duo P7450 2.13ghz
4gb DDR2
Geforce 9400M
Windows 7 x64

HTPC
Core 2 Duo E7200 2.53ghz
4gb DDR2
Radeon HD 3670
Windows 7 x64

both run the game well except for the odd FPS drop to 40 during normal game play. Some of the big magic spells see it drop but from what I've read it's to be expected. FMV's run normally and sound is good apart from when you get the FPS drops and then it just slows down to reflect the game speed as a result. It just then seems to crash. No particular one point. I use default settings on PCSX2 v1 (Rev 5350??) on the HTPC and v1.1 (Rev 5530) and v1 on the laptop but the same results occur. I've searched a lot (Google is my friend) but no one seems to have had the same issue as me? Any help greatly appreciated!

Seems to make it run better when a big spell is cast, but the point at which it cuts to an FMV it locks up. PCSX2 is still running, but the games locked up. I can select everything, I could reset the game or change settings etc. but the game itself is not running, and the console hasn't bought up any errors. Done it twice now.

1 - don't use savestates when trying to solve a bug. Load only from memcard
2 - make an iso of your DVD using imgburn

I did start with an ISO but then read somewhere it's better to use the disc. But it keeps pausing for spin up! I'll use the save game from now on then. I had the crashing issue with the ISO (didnt get far enough to see the freeze issue).

did you enable cheats?
some cheats has also possible unstable may lead also to crushing.

In that case it might be a damaged disc if those tlb misses are anything to go by but those may also be becuase of the save state.

yup definitely an cd problem, since using a cd with damage will really ruin your gameplay not to mention FPS drop
