FPS with cheap CPUs
#11
well about the money i am not realy sure how much it is in USD but E8000 series is of limit. Overclocking is fine with me. I would play pcsx2 most of time if i got somthing beter than 10-35 FPS (thats what i got with mine celeron 2,8 single core). I already finished KH I a II and it took like forever so i dont want the same experience with other games.

Intel is a better choice if you have the money, That AMD Duel core will do the just as well, and overclocks really nicely, its all down to preference really and the GPU you get Wink

oke, c2d e7300 is good choice but first you need good mobo p35 is cheapest one but if you want to oc your cpu more higher p45 mobo is good choice. But good mobo isnt enough to good oc f, you need good ddr2 1066 pc.8500 to push cpu clock beyond 500mhz from default clock and the last you need good heatsink. About fps diffrent between kuma (phenom) 7850BE and C2D e7300 in same clock, i dont have clue at all but between old AMD X2 and kuma can give you more 6-8fps clock per clock.

so if i have ddr2 533 pc. 4300 it wont work well with e7300/7400 ? or is it just lower OC? and p45 dosent seem in my price range but i think that p35 will work just fine.

Get DDR2 PC6400 RAM dude....
4-4-4-12 timings preferably.

Posible working but can give you performance impact (bottleneck, can not gain higher overclock etc). FSB and ram speed are key for C2D cpu to gain performance advantage from overclocking cpu.

You can use my system as comparison:
Intel E5200 @ 3.2ghz
AMD ATI HD4830
2x 2GB Kingston value ram PC6400

I got min 50FPS on FFXII, 70FPS on the fighting mode King Of Fighter 2002 (is it? not really sure but its the 3d one). Usually 100+FPS on FFXII, really help the levelling process Wink

My memory (or is it my motherboard, the cheap G31) won't let me past 3.3Ghz, but overal, pcsx2 is pretty much enjoyable with this setup. I use GSDX with internal resolution at 1280x1280.

I say go with the E5200, maybe get a better memory and motherboard and you could probably reach 4Ghz Laugh. Also AMD processor can't run SSSE3 version of GSDX
