Final Fantasy X bypasses FMVs?
#11
To make sure, I opened a fresh instance of PCSX2, configured the CDVD plugin to point to the FFX.iso, used Run -> Execute, and also told it to show CD/DVD info in the console screen to see if there was anything I could glean from the logs. Didn't load from a save state to ensure that it was a real test, patches disabled. Started new game, got through the intro, and the same thing happened -- scene faded from Tidus outside the blitz arena to Tidus on the highway after Sin. It's probably of no use, but here's the relevant console log:

Code:

Can anyone else confirm that this does NOT happen to them on the same versions of PCSX2? Can someone provide me the MD5sum of their FFX iso that works? At this point I can only assume it's a problem with how I ripped the disc, since no one else has had similar problems....

Thanks!

there are many different versions of ffx out there, what's your ffx's id code and crc value?

Have you tried running FFX on PCSX2 version 0.9.6?

Sorry about that, didn't think about the fact that it was released a mess of times and in all sorts of different regions...

The game ID of mine is SLUS 20312 and the CRC BB3D833A. It's got a filesize of 4,508,221,440 bytes and the md5sum is 57998b60010b7583c423d5b2142ad1a3.

I'm not sure if it matters that I ripped it myself -- I don't know if there's anything special I should have done differently using ImgBurn than just rip a RAW image of it. I did the same steps to pull my Xenosaga 1 and 2 .ISOs and those ones seem OK with FMV intact.

In reply to flow.of.soul, I have tried in PCSX 0.9.6 with the same results.

i got the german pal, so i can't help you Smile

but as bositman already said, it's weird that even without using savestates, speed hacks or patches and from the original disc the fmvs don't show up.

Indeed,FFX is a very popular game and there are TONS of people running it successfully. It's 99% a problem on your part but we really can't figure out what it is...

I have the same version no problem here, can you show us a screenshot of all your settings? maybe there's something missing... also try running it from the disc with the CDVDolio cdvd plugin.

Here ya go... No luck with the CDVDolio plugin from my DVD directly or from ISO.

Got my hands on a borrowed copy of a PAL version, SCES 50490, CRC A39517AB -- does the same thing Sad. It's gotta be something I have checked somewhere in the options... Hope the .PNGs help!

Seems all ok... Try changing the round modes in advanced settings to nearest or negative and... well basically play with the advanced settings cause this is a weird problem and I ran out of ideas :P
