Final Fantasy XII Better FPS?
#1
Question
Hello!

I have a question about emulating Final Fantasy XII. It is possible to gain more frames per second in FFXII on my specs?

Intel Pentium D820 2,8GHz @2,9GHz
ATI Radeon X1300 450MHz/250MHz @580MHz/292MHz
2GB RAM
XP SP3
(Yes, i know. This is worst computer ever, but i want play this beautiful game.)

I was testing this game on different configs, but this one seems to have most FPS:

BIOS: Europe v2.00
EE/IOP: Round Mode Nearest, Clamping Mode None
VUs: VU0 superVU Recompiler, VU1 microVU Recompiler
GS Window: 4:3 960x680
Speedhacks: EE Cycle rate 3, VU Cycle Stealing 3, Enable INTC, Enable Wait Loop Detection, Enable fast CD/DVD, mVU Flag Hack, MTVU
GSdx 5350 0.1.16 SSE2: Direct 3D9, Interlacing None, Custom Res 640x480, Allow 8 bit textures, Logarithmic Z, Alpha Corection FBA
SPU2-X 5350: Interpolation Linear, Disable Effects Processing, Module XAudio 2, Latency 250ms, Synchronizing Mode ASync Mix, Stereo

Using camera from above i can get 60, playable FPS in most areas.

I'm waiting for useful sugestions!

if you can overclock, it'll help, for sure.
But it's already quite amazing to get so many fps with those specs...

I'd advise you to keep playing on your PS2 until you can get a better machine Wink

I've tried to overclock my CPU, but it started melting and blue screen with graphic card driver error appeared, so ill stay with stable 2,9Ghz.

I've changed resolution to custom 640x480, game looks better but i lost ~1fps. So i turned off interlacing, turned on skipdraw to 10 in HW hacks and its +1 fps, so basically nothing changed.

As i said before it is playable, but i need to keep camera from above most of the time. I'm in Giza plains (a little worse FPS than on dalmasca sands, but oh well...)

Why im not playing on PS2? Game keeps freezing, i think its laser problem.

It's 3AM... ill will try something tommorow. Mellow

Sorry for my english by the way. Sad

OMG Laugh ... ofcourse i have different HW... LoL...
I thought you'd be atleast that "smart" !!

I was just giving an example ... no comparison IMO!!

Also and only sitback, some quickenings from some chars (not all .. bash for instance) → Limit Breaks still do tend to slowdown like FPS 30 - 40 !!!

Iam SURE that this isnt an CPU VS PCSX2 issue here !!

P.S: I wont stop posting before i think...
however, i will THINK it more CAREfully BEFORE I post.. So that its more understandable to you and the likes!!

@Metagondria: Stop spamming. I was expecting useful tips, and not showing off your computer specification. Huh

I think I can't get anymore FPS. It's ok in my opinion, propably I will not beat the game, but at least i can fight some monsters and explore.

Why the offset hack in GSdx?
And have you looked into upgrading the CPU to a supported Core2 model?
Some mainboards support them, and it'd be a huge upgrade.

Half Pixel Offset doesn't help at all. I disabled all HW hacks and there is no difference in FPS. First post is updated to actual settings.

My motherboard supports few C2D, but i think i'll rather buy new computer in distant future.

I am not sure why my FPS drops to 35 after turning off sounds (SPU2-X: No Sound [Emulate SPU2 only]).
