Final Fantasy XII Black bars during cutscenes
#1
I'm a newbie at PCSX2 and just got FF12 Zodiac International with english patch working. Everything works great with great quality, but during cutscenes there is a black bar at the bottom of the screen. I've tried looking up everywhere what to do and tried resolving the issue but nothing worked. I've even put the resolution on native and tried software mode and still its there. As well as removing hacks, but still no resolve. My drivers are all updated and DirectX as well. Here is my info. I have PCSX2 1.2.1.

Ummm that's supposed to be there.

Did you not play this game on your PS2? lol

Is it? I've never played this game before and it looked like it didn't belong there. >.<

It is:

I played the game multiple times on the PS2, but it still looked very weird when I played it in PCSX2, it just didn't look right when playing in widescreen HD :P

Haha. This gets me, even on my actual PS2, this looks weird. I can't understand the reasoning behind it. Looks terrible.

Yeah idk what Square was thinking. Apparently there's claims going around saying they didn't want to put the subtitles 'on top of the picture', so they created the black bars instead. Seems pretty fugly to me. They could've at least made it semi transparent or something and not fill the entire bottom area..

Something like this, idk.

Or even this would actually look fine, since it's still not completely cutting off the entire area:

Right?

FF10 had subtitles on the FMVs and cutscenes. Didn't ruin it for me. The huge black bars taking 40% of the screen however, really pull you out of the immersion.
