What do F1-F12 keys do? Are there any other keyboard short-cuts or key with special functions?

The only one that I know is [Esc].

F1 is save state to the slot you are currently on 0-9
F2 changes the save state slot, cycling from 0-9
F3 loads the selected slot
F4 changes the Cpu limiter from No limit- limit- frame skip

the rest i beleive depends on your video plug in.
